Renton police ask help in finding missing 19-year-old woman
Apr 23 2010, 7:00 AM · UPDATED

The Renton Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Kathy M. Chou, 19, who was last seen at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 18, and last heard from at about 9:30 the same night.

The police department supplied the following description.

Chou is an Asian female, approximately 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds.  She has black hair with blonde streaks and blue bangs and a piercing in her bottom right lip.  She usually wears a pair of pink rimmed glasses, and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a horizontally striped, multicolored shirt.  She does not have any physical disabilities.

A high school senior, she has no history of running away or missing school.

It is extremely unlike Chou to be out of contact, and family and friends have been unable to contact her since Sunday, according to police.  She was last known to be in the area of south Renton and Southcenter.

Anyone who has seen Chou since 7 p.m. on Sunday night or knows of her whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1, contact the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500, or contact Detective Keith Hansen at 425-430-7526.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK MAY 3 – 7, 2010

Please help show our appreciation by donating to the staff lunch the PTSA is sponsoring on May 5th.  Please bring your food donations to the office on Wednesday, May 5th, by 10:30 am.  Drinks will be provided.

To date, we have received only three responses.  The PTSA is on a limited budget, and depends heavily on parent support for these types of events!  If you can donate, or have any questions, please contact Karen Carpenter at 2bacarpenter@comcast.net, or call 425-254-9630.

Thanks for your help!

Karen

Carrie's Note:  Each student receives a copy of the "Nelsen News", to bring home each month.  If you have not received one, or are missing the current issue, ask your child if he/she has it in their backpack, or binder.  Attached to each Nelsen News is a copy of the Calendar of the month.  Due to server limitations, I am unable to attach it or reproduce the same, in its original format.

Please be sure to ask your child for the Nelsen News at the beginning of the month, and regularly check with them for any other important school handouts!

The e-mail updates are not intended to replace regular U.S. mail, or written material sent through the students. The updates serve as additional notice, or a precursor of things to come, and help to rally parents and promote camaraderie.  This will especially help for upcoming events that may require parental support.

Thank you!

SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
Legislature’s cuts to district’s budget less than expected
District’s preliminary budget work based on ‘worst-case scenario’, Legislature’s budget not as severe to schools as Gov’s initial budget
April 14, 2010—Renton School’s budget next year will not be as negatively impacted by state cuts as first proposed in the governor’s initial budget, released in December 2009.
The district’s loss of state funding was to be as much as $4.3 million. That, coupled with increases in operating costs (utilities, insurance and state-mandated retirement annuities), brought the district’s total anticipated reductions to $6.1 million.
A more detailed budget will be presented to district staff, parents and the community at community meetings in mid-May. Those meetings were originally scheduled for late April. But, with the state’s late release of its budget, the district will now have to finalize its work in the coming weeks.
